Types of Plans

  • Architectural Floor Plans: Layout, room names, dimensions, door/window tags, finish notes (A-sheets).
  • Structural Framing Plans: Joists, beams, posts, headers, shear walls, connectors (S-sheets).
  • Sections & Details: Enlarged views showing assemblies, layers, fasteners, intersections.

Key Symbols & Notes

  • Dimensions: Overall vs. partial; CL vs. FOS; confirm units and scale.
  • Section/Detail Markers: Callouts like 3/S3.2 mean detail 3 on sheet S3.2.
  • Wall Types: Tags (e.g., W2A-1) reference a schedule; note stud type/gauge, spacing, layers, rating.
  • Material Specs: Check notes for FR rating, moisture/impact boards, acoustics, bead types.
