Wall Type Quick Reference
- Standard Partition: 2×4 studs @ 16″ OC, 1/2″ GWB both sides
- Demising Wall: 2×6 studs @ 16″ OC, 5/8″ Type X both sides (1-hr)
- Shaft Wall: 1″ liner panels, H-studs, 5/8″ GWB outside
- Sound Wall: Staggered 2×4 studs on 2×6 plate, insulation, 5/8″ Type X
Drywall Board Reference
- 1/2″ Regular: Walls & ceilings (typical)
- 5/8″ Type X: Fire-rated assemblies
- Moisture Resistant (Green Board): Baths/kitchens
- Paperless/Abuse Resistant: Corridors, schools
Screw Spacing (per GA-216)
- Walls: 16″ OC studs → screws @ 16″ OC
- Ceilings (perpendicular): 12″ OC
- Ceilings (parallel): 7″ OC
- Type X: Often closer spacing — check design
Finish Levels (GA-214)
- Level 0: No finish, temporary
- Level 1: Tape embedded, storage areas
- Level 2: Tape + compound, garages
- Level 3: Ready for heavy texture
- Level 4: Standard paint finish
- Level 5: Skim coat, gloss/dark paint
